How does the ear work?

There are three major parts to the ear; The outer ear, The middle ear and The inner ear.

Signs of Diminished Hearing

Some common signs of a hearing loss include:
  • Not understanding occasional words,
  • Having to play the television louder than others like it,
  • Having more trouble hearing in groups and noisy places
  • The sense that people are mumbling more than they used to.
  • Hearing loss raises concerns for safety (hearing warning signals, sirens and car horns),
  • It can be a sign of a more serious underlying medical problem (infections or tumors).

Hearing Test Is the First Step

Having a hearing test is the first step to take when hearing loss is suspected. After the hearing
test your dispenser will discuss your hearing loss and how you might be helped medically or with hearing aids.
